I got up! I got out and I got fit!!

I completed boot camp and feel excited about my results!! I did a final assessment test and was able to complete the mile 25 seconds faster than at the beginning, 13 more pushups and 20 more situps! I also lost 5 inches and 9 pounds!!!! I am very pleased to say the least. I have also joined the boot camp instructor team and will be instructing a camp in Wickenburg. It starts Apr. 28. I gave a free trial camp today and had 5 people come. It was a lot of fun and I the women seemed to really get a great work out. I am really looking forward to this additional adventure and challenge. Oh by the way it is at 5:30 - 6:30 AM! ugh! Oh well, it is cooler at that time (only in the 70's).
Our boot camp is sponsored by Healthnut and each participant receives a free month membership to the gym and spa. We were featured last week on Channel 3 (www.AZfamily.com) to show how our boot camps are a unique and fun but effective way to lose weight and get healthy. They did a great job on the info and we had a lot of calls regarding the gym and camps.

Week 1 completed!

I finished week one and feel proud. We were timed on a mile run as well as push ups in a minute and sit ups in a minute. I am proud to say I came in second place on the mile with a time of 10 min 36 sec. Not great but I finished and I finished 2nd! I also was proud of how many push ups and sit ups I was able to accomplish. I am excited to see how much I improve by the next time we are timed.

This week she had us crawling on the wet grass, doing speed lunges, and walking lunges uphill, plus other excruciating exercises! The last couple days is when it actually felt like a Boot camp work out! My triceps are so sore I can't bend my arms at the elbows more than a 90 degree angle. This better work!

Arizona is blossoming and my allergies have been a big factor in this outdoor workout. I am trying a new pill and hopefully I will get a little relief. I was hoping when we moved out here I wouldn't have any allergies but no such luck.

Call me Private WIlkes!

Call me Private Wilkes. I have joined a Women's Fitness BOOT CAMP!! I started Monday. We were measured (embarrassing) on Monday. I am ready. It last for 4 weeks 4 days a week. It is intense! Tonight we had to run a mile (thanks to Sabrina I was able to run it!!) We did 45 minutes of drills at 12 different stations. Everything from hurdles to jumprope to squats and lunges. I am finding that since having a baby certain activities (jumprope!) is not an activity that my bladder agrees with! Kegels, Kegels Kegels!!!! Thursday we are being timed on our mile as well as how many push-ups and sit-ups we can do in 1 minute. I am so competitve when it comes to this that I am nervous and anxious. They say go at your own pace but lets be serious, everyone wants to be first and the best!

I am serious, ready and am losing this baby weight! I am sore and tired but it feels good. I will keep you posted on my results.

HELLO!!

I am still here!! Sorry it has been so long since I have updated but life seems to being going so fast that time runs out each day before I am able to get everything done!
Things are great. We are moved into to our "temporary " location and are learning to love and adjust to tight quarters:) The boys started school and then got a week off for Spring Break! They are loving school and their new friends. They love having cousins and kids from church in their classes. We live near a great park that has a really "Cool" skate park in it. The boys go there daily to grind and ollie! It is beautiful here and the weather has been perfect for them to play outside all day. We live close to Grandmas (plural) and enjoy doing ranch chores; feeding the chickens and collecting eggs, letting the cats in and out, and chasing down the runaway COWS and STEER!!!! They are getting ready to witness their first slaughter and have named the cow "DINNER" (how appropriate).
The Gym is awesome! I love going in and working there. I have had a so much fun doing marketing, rearranging, and just getting acclimated to the new business. Hans and I are enjoying working together and look forward to all that lies ahead! Brooke has done wonderfully tagging along with us and it has been a blessing to have the daycare there. The staff is great and have been very accommodating to us. I know we have our work cut out for us but I am so excited about the adventure. I sometimes feel like I am talking so fast and rambling but I am genuinely very excited!
We have met a lot of great people so far in the ward. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. We couldn't have asked for an easier transition.
We miss all of our Friends back in CA and are looking forward to seeing them all in May! The kids are out of school then and we are coming back to visit. We have been so blessed to have made so many wonderful friends and miss seeing them and talking with them often. It still feels like we are on vacation and will be returning soon. We rented the house out and I am guessing when I get there and someone else is living in my home that is when it will hit me like a ton of bricks!:(
Well, I will try and be better at keeping everyone better updated on the happenings of the Wilkes Family (now of AZ). Keep us in your prayers and fingers crossed!

Thank You Lord

Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings.
Thank you, Lord, that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.
Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as possible.
Thank you, Lord, that I can see. Many are blind.
Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising.
Thank you, Lord, that I have the strength to rise. There are many who are bedridden.
Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost, toast is burned, tempers are short, and my children are so loud.
Thank you, Lord, for my family. There are many who are lonely.
Even though our breakfast table never looks like the picture in magazines and the menu is at times unbalanced.
Thank you, Lord, for the food we have. There are many who are hungry.
Even though the routine of my job often is monotonous.
Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to work. There are many who have no job.
Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my circumstances were not so modest.
Thank you, Lord, for life.

Moving on up!

Well its final! We are moving! We purchased the gym and are on our way to be business owners! I am so excited, anxious, nervous , sad and happy, and every emotion you can think of. What an adventure lies in front of us. We have been packing up the house and it feels so surreal. It feels like we are just doing a really deep "Spring Cleaning"! It doesn't feel real yet. We have so much to do and yet I sometimes don't know where to begin. I am trying to be methodical but not sure what method to use. I am impressed at how little amount of "stuff" we have stored. I plan on having a garage sale next weekend and hope to have enough "stuff" to entice people to actually stop. We are going to be living on a limited amount of stuff because we are moving into a 1 bd home until we find a place close to the gym. It has very limited space and so most all of our stuff will be in storage. That will be interesting! All 6 of us in a 1 bd room house! We will have to be a very organized, and "close" family!

You are what you eat, so eat well.

Here is just a short list of examples of Whole Food Signatures:

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye...and science shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows that grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrum's and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds are on the nut just like the neocortex. We now know that walnuts help develop over 3 dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet the body pulls it from the bones, making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Eggplant, Avocado's and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats 1 avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? .... It takes exactly 9 months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the motility of male sperm and increase the numbers of sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries.

Grapefruits, Oranges, and other citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like body cells. Today's research shows that onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. '

The news isn't that fruits and vegetables are good for you, it's that they are so good for you, they can save your life.'

I am LAME!

I feel so lame! I can not remember my email password! Tuesday night I decided that I would change my password to me email (it has been awhile). I thought what is a password that I won't forgetand is similiar to the one I had. Well I don't know cause I can't remember. Then they ask you you "Secret question" and how lame am I , cause I can't even remember the answer!!!!! I don't even remember picking that question. I am trying to work with MSN to have them reset it for me but they are taking a long time to "verify" who I say I am. I am an email junkie and am having withdrawls. I am hope that I can be up and emailing by this afternoon otherwise who knows what my mental state may be?!

God Said No

I asked God to take away my habit.
God said, No. It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.

God said, No. His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary
I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No.Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned.
I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No.I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.You must grow on your own! , but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said, No. I will give you li fe, so that you may enjoy all things.
I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said...Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.

May God Bless You,

"To the world you might be one person, but to one person you just might be the world"

Good friends are like stars...You don't always see them, but you know they are always there

Moving Forward...

This weekend we went to check a gym that we were interested to buy. It was better than the description and the pictures! We are very excited and hoping that everything falls into place. If it does then we would have to move. The boys are excited for the most part but it will definitely be a very stressful time. Hans and I are very excited at the possibility of our lives moving forward. This will be such an awesome opportunity for us. The gym has so much potential for growth. The previous owner is great and we are looking forward to working with her to make the gym even bigger than it is now.

I am so blessed!
